Read: Isaiah 40:1-2
When Jesus told his disciples they should not shun the little children, for “such was the Kingdom of God”, no doubt he knew the joy of holding out his arms and having a little child jump up into them. No matter what is going on in our lives, a child’s hug is a like a shot of adrenalin, and even though the hug may not be for a second, the memories linger throughout the day, bringing joy to our hearts and a smile across our face.
There is a little child in Nicaragua that has stolen Linda’s heart. When she learns that Linda is coming, she begins to mark the days down, and she lives in the anticipation of seeing her “nana” again. It’s a “Kodak” moment when they run to each other and embrace! Body pain is gone, worries vanish, and fears subside, all from the hug from a little child.
Our time of daily devotions can and should be like that, and rather than having to “find” the time to spend with the Lord, we should live in anticipation of that appointed time of meeting Him every day, and then run into His arms and cherish every precious moment of it. Those few moments can make an eternal difference in our lives and those we love.
