Read Zephaniah 3:14-20
In this obscure passage from Zephaniah, God made an incredible promise to His people when He said: “I will bring you home.” Of course, contextually, he was referring to the days of King Josiah in Judah, but if we allow them, they can give us a fresh promise from God today. And what is that promise? There is coming a day when there will be no more fear, no more hunger, and want. God will gather His people around Him again, and all will be well. We will be AT HOME with the Lord!
The thought of going home stirs up all kinds of feelings, and sadly for many, they are not all good. Home for many was not what it should have been and certainly not what God intended it to be. For others, the journey over the hills and through the woods is filled with joy and anticipation of seeing family and friends and smelling that wonderful aroma of home. No doubt, many of you will be on the road this week, headed to that place you call “home”! We pray the Lord will give you a safe journey and a joyous reunion when you arrive. However, one day soon, we all will be “going home” to be with the Lord, forever: maybe even today – are you ready?
