Becoming a Christian
Becoming a Christian requires much more than to just identify with a particular evangelical religion. To become a true believer in Christ, one must fully embrace what the Scriptures declare about God, about sinful man, and about God’s plan of salvation.
- In Romans 10:9, the Apostle Paul clarified the essential elements of one’s confession of faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. “If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.”
- In 1 Peter 3:18, the Apostle clarified how, in His mercy and by His grace alone, God provided a Savior who paid the penalty for our sins. “For Christ also died for sins, once and for all, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God.”
- In Acts 16:31, Luke clarified the initial step one must take in order to be eternally saved. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved.”
While the steps to salvation are so simple a child can understand them, it is important for every believer to understand the level of commitment required to assure one’s eternal salvation.
