Inspiration—God’s Love Scripture Reading—Romans 5:5-8
- Paul says the love of God has been given (verse 5)
-
- Within—hearts
- Through—Holy Spirit who was given to us
- Paul describes the sinner as (verse 6)
-
- Without strength
- Ungodly
- How did God demonstrate His love toward us? (verse 8)
-
- While we were sinners (He loved us)
- Christ died for us
- When we compare these two verses we find:
-
- Verse 6—“Christ died for the ungodly!”
- Verse 8—“Christ die for us!”
- One can see (verse 7) that the difference between God’s love and man’s love is:
-
- Man’s love is both conditional; God’s love us unconditional
- Man’s love is limited; God’s love is unlimited
Application—Repent
- How were YOU helpless before YOU accepted Christ? (Be as honest as this will become a part of your testimony to others)
- Compare God’s love for YOU with the love others have or have had for YOU!
(understand that usually others love us because they want us to love them back, or they will love us as long as we do what they want us to do. God’s love is unconditional, and since His love for us has already been expressed, in the death of His Son, He cannot love us any more or less than He already has. Sinner—you are loved!)
- Memorize John 3:16
- Personalize Romans 5:8
“But God demonstrated His own love toward me in that while I was still a sinner, Christ died for me!”
- Pray, thanking God for His great love and how He has expressed that love for you and to you.
Application—Return
- Reveal God’s love IN YOU today by showing love to someone who isn’t loveable.
I invite you back tomorrow for DAY THREE of “REDISCOVERING YOUR FIRST LOVE!”
