Date:November 10, 2024
Author: Wayne J. Edwards

Introduction:

This Sunday at 6:00 PM, we will continue our in-depth study of Paul’s letter to the Christians in Rome. In this sermon, we will examine Romans 5:1-11 under the heading God’s Provision for Our Salvation, – “Our Eternal Security.”

Over the years, the number one question I’ve been asked is, “How can I know for sure and certain that I am saved.” The Holy Spirit will answer that question through our study of Romans 5:1-11.

You are spreading the gospel by sharing these sermon study guides with your family and friends. Your participation is invaluable, and we are so very thankful for your help in this ministry to spread.

The Just Shall Live by Faith
“God’s Provision for Our Salvation – Eternal Security”
Romans 5: 1-11

The giant step between Chapter 4:25 and Chapter 5:1 is our step of faith.

  • But once we have taken that step of faith, two immediate effects will be manifest in our lives:

 1. The Benefits of Justification – Vs. 1-5

  • We have absolute peace with God – assuring us of our eternal security.
  • We have access to God’s grace.
  • We have hope in God’s glory.
  • We have glory in our trials/tribulations
  • We have a continuous flow of God’s love through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit.

 2. The Background of Justification – vs 6-11

  • We were without strength and without hope, yet Christ died for us.
    • In God’s grace.
    • Because of God’s mercy.
  • We were sinners, yet God demonstrated His love for us.
    • By Christ’s sacrificial death.
    • Resulting in our eternal salvation.
  • We were sinners, yet God reconciled and redeemed us.
    • We were reconciled by Christ’s death.
    • We were saved by Christ’s life.
    • We were filed with joy by Christ’s atonement.
