The Age of The Apocalypse, “The Church Age” Revelation 1:7-2:1b

While the interest in the study of the Book of Revelation is primarily about the events of the end times, it is important that we understand why Jesus began His revelation to John with seven personal letters to seven particular churches in Asia.

First, while these seven churches were actual, historical churches in that day, the Lord’s letters were intended for every local church of every age, and even more importantly, The Church of the ages.
Second, like the nation of Israel failed in their calling to be God’s representatives on the earth and God had no choice but to chastise them, so the church will also reach that point where it becomes so entangled in the world it can make no difference in the world, and it will face a time of severe persecution.
Third, while those believers who remain “faithful” to their calling will be spared from God’s wrath, those who reject Jesus Christ will be vomited out into the time of Tribulation.

“The Feast of Pentecost” Leviticus 23:15-21, Acts 2:1-47

The Feast of Pentecost was fulfilled 2000 years ago when the Holy Spirit filled that upper room where Jesus’ closest followers were empowered to take the next step in His plan for our redemption. According to the Scriptures, over 3000 people responded to the gospel message, and the Church was born.

Look around, the harvest is greater than ever before, but the workers are fewer than ever before. People around the world are hurting, and they need to know healing is possible. They need to see the love, grace, mercy, and peace of God manifested in our lives, so they can be drawn to Him.

Beloved, in Ephesians 5:18, the Apostle Paul said every believer is commanded to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit. Have you had your Pentecost experience? If not, why not?

Age of Apocalypse – The King of The Ages Revelation 1:4-20

While the interest in the study of the Book of Revelation is primarily about the events of the end times, it is important that we understand why Jesus began His revelation to John with seven personal letters to seven particular churches in Asia.

“The Feast of Firstfruits” Leviticus 23:1-2, 1 Corinthians 15:20-25

In the Book of Leviticus, God called His people to bring the first full sheaf of grain to the temple priests to be lifted up as a wave offering unto the Lord, not only to show their respect and reverence for Him, but to also show they trusted Him to provide enough crops to feed their family. This was called the Feast of Firstfruits.

In 1 Corinthians 15:20, the Apostle Paul said, “But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.” Jesus was not the first to be raised from the dead, but He was the first to conquer the effects of death in that while He was recognizable as He had been in His natural body, He was the first person to pass from the natural to the supernatural; from the temporal to the eternal, and that’s what Jesus promises those who receive Him as their Savior and Lord.

The Age of Apocalypse – Introduction – The Revelation of Jesus Christ Revelation 1:1-3

“The Feast of Unleavened Bread” Leviticus 23:4-8, Exodus 12:14-20

The Feast of Unleavened Bread points to the Person and work of Jesus Christ.

Jesus was born in the city of Bethlehem, and in Hebrew, Beit-Lechem means “House of Bread.”
Jesus said He was the “Bread of life, “and that all who came to Him would never hunger or thirst for righteousness again.
The exact moment the Jews were bringing their leaven to the synagogue for public burning, Jesus was being nailed to the cross as God’s judgment upon our sin.
Just as the feast of unleavened bread was observed on the 15th of Nisan, so the lifeless body of the Lord Jesus lay buried in a rock hewn tomb and guarded by a Roman soldier.

The main application of the Feast of Unleavened Bread to us today is to constantly rid ourselves of the leaven of the world through continual confession, for even as those who are saved by God’s grace, if we choose not to confess our sins we are also choosing to accept the consequences that go with that choice. This one verse should drive us all to our knees: “When I kept silent, my bones grew old through my groaning all the day long,” (Psalm 32:3)

“The Feast of Passover” Leviticus 23:4-5

The first Passover occurred on the 14th of Nisan, 1451 B.C.  Jesus of Nazareth was crucified on the 14th of Nisan in 32 A.D., fulfilling the illustration of the Passover.

At the same hour the Jewish priests began to slaughter over 250,000 lambs in memorial to the way God redeemed their forefathers from Egyptian slavery, Roman soldiers began to crucify Jesus of Nazareth as God’s way of redeeming us from our sins.
At the same hour the High Priest slaughtered the last lamb and cried out, “It is finished,” the Lord Jesus, our High Priest gave up His Spirit and cried out, “It is finished.”
While the Jews still celebrate Passover just as they have done for 3500 years, as Christians, we celebrate Passover as the day God redeemed us from our sin and assured us of our home with Him in heaven.

We will explain this further in our next sermon, “The Feast of Passover”, which is based on our study of Leviticus 23, and Exodus 12.

“The Seven Feasts of Israel” Leviticus 23:1-44

With this sermon, we begin a new series on the Seven Feasts of the Lord entitled, “God’s Appointed Pathway.” For over 1500 years, God had the Israelites to “act out” His plan of redemption each year, in the hope that it would point them to the One He would send to be their Savior.

The four spring feasts focused on the first coming of the Messiah, as they described His death, His burial, and His resurrection, as well as the coming of the Holy Spirit.
The three fall feasts focused on His second coming, as they described what He will accomplish in the future, including the rapture of the Church, His victory over sin and Satan and the inauguration of His kingdom on this earth for 1,0000 years, and in the New Heaven and New earth forever, world without end.

We will explain this further in our next sermon, “The Seven Feasts of Israel” which is based on our study of Leviticus 23:1-44

“The Marriage Supper of the Lamb” Revelation 19:7-10

God used the most important human relationship on earth to illustrate the most important spiritual relationship in eternity, which is why Satan wants to destroy the institution of marriage, and primarily Christian marriages, for as husbands love their wives as Christ loved the Church and as wives submit to their husbands, as Jesus submitted unto the Father, they are demonstrating the gospel before their children.

The generational consequences of deviating from the biblical concept of marriage are evident. Yet, at this very hour, the men and women who are in charge of protecting the moral values that made this nation the envy of the world are about to deal the fatal blow to the biblical concept of marriage, and that may very well exceed the limit of God’s grace upon this nation.

We will explain this further in our next sermon, “The Marriage Supper of the Lamb.” This sermon is based upon our study of Revelation 19:1-10.

“The Sound of Hoofbeats” Ezekiel 33:1-6, Revelation 6:1-8

The only cure for the apathy and apostasy of today’s church is the clear preaching of the unadulterated and uncompromising gospel, including the imminent Rapture of the Church, the arrival and rule of the antichrist, the outpouring of the wrath of God upon those who refused to receive Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, and the glorious return of Christ as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. However, I’m appalled at the silence of today’s pulpits regarding the signs of our times.

If the Apostle Paul included all of these truths in his proclamation of the gospel to the new believers in Thessalonica, why do today’s pastors refuse to preach it from their pulpits? Sadly, if they genuinely believed it, they could not help but preach it, and according to 1 Timothy 4:1, even such unbelief is a sign of the end times.

As one of God’s watchmen, I am sounding the alarm; warning those who will listen that God is about to remove the Restrainer that is holding back the onslaught of evil and allow the end-time events the Lord Jesus described in Matthew 24 and the Apostle Paul revealed in 1st and 2nd Thessalonians, and the Apostle John defined in the Book of Revelation to bring this age to a close and to establish His Millennial Kingdom on the earth. We are living on the edge of eternity; I encourage you to brace yourself for the things that are about to happen.

We will explain this further in our next sermon, God’s Appointed Pathway: “The Sound of Hoofbeats!” The sermon is based on Ezekiel 33:1-6 and Revelation 6:1-8.
