The Shorter Catechism reminds us that the true end of man is “to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.” God made man for a purpose, and that purpose is to worship Him. God also declared one day out of seven to be set aside as a reminder of our purpose. In other words, the Sabbath was a sign between God and man.
The picture of the prodigal son running into the arms of his father should bring tears to our eyes, for that is the perfect picture of our salvation. We were reconciled to God, our Heavenly Father, by our expressed faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord. The gospel message is cheapened with a lesser purpose – i.e., “believe in Jesus Christ, and you will go to heaven when you die!”
The difference between “can’t” and “won’t” is a matter of one’s will. The evidence for the existence of God is before the eyes of every person on earth.
The truth about creation is foundational to a biblical worldview as it substantiates the existence of a deity known as God! In other words, the knowledge of the existence of God is before the eyes of every person on earth, for He has revealed Himself in what He created, and how He created it. It is understandable by every person, regardless of their language or intellect, therefore no one can stand before God and plead ignorance.
Beloved, we must not stop teaching the Book of Genesis because it differs with the secular theories of the origin of the universe and mankind. We must be prepared to give our children “faith-based” answers to their questions, for without a solid understanding of the “Who” of creation, they will not understand the “why” of our salvation!
According to the most recent survey, only 6% of Americans have a biblical worldview. Stated another way, 94% of those who live in the most God-blessed nation on earth do not view “life” through the lens of Holy Scripture. In effect, they are secularists, and while that might include some form of worship of some kind of god, it is certainly not the true worship of the God of the Bible.
If we are to see a genuine revival, it must begin in the home, and with a return to God’s blueprint for marriage.
To quote my friend, Gary Kah, “With the rapidly changing political, cultural, and spiritual climate we are facing in America and around the world, we want to be a relevant force for truth and righteousness amidst our deteriorating society. This is not an easy task, but it is what God has called us to do.”
If Christians are to be effective in our mission to be “salt and light” to our society, and in our commission to get the whole gospel to the whole world, we best stop fighting “sins” like “whack-a-moles” and learn to hold on to our faith and to stand before our enemies with a clear conscience.
In Romans 1:18-32, the Apostle Paul outlined the step-by-step disintegration of a society. One cannot read the passage without recognizing the first step in that lengthy process is the suppression and the rejection of the true knowledge of God.
“The Church is not a cruise ship with the pastor as the master of ceremonies, but rather a battleship, and the souls of those on-board hang in the balance.”
