Inspiration—The Holy Scriptures Scripture Reading—2 Timothy 3:13-17
- Paul contrast “evil” men and “godly” men:
-
- “imposters will grow worse and worse”
- “You, however, must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them.”
- Read 2 Timothy 3:15 where Paul says the Bible gives faith that leads to salvation through Christ Jesus.
- “Inspired” means—“God Breathed”—see 2 Peter 1:20-21
-
- Who wrote? Holy men of God
- By whose authority? Holy Spirit
- So how much of the Bible is inspired by God? All of the Bible!
- The Bible was inspired for what purpose? That we might believe
- The Bible is profitable for:
-
- Direction—showing me how to walk in His ways
- Reflection—showing me where I have missed His direction
- Correction—showing me how to get back on the right road
- Inspiration—showing me how not to make the mistake again
Application—Repent
- Have you expressed doubts about the divine inspiration of the Bible?
- Have you made fun of those who accept the Bible as God’s Word?
- Have you gone for long periods without ever reading the Word of God?
Application—Return
- Pray, thanking God for His Word that tells us the truth about who He is and who we are, even though at times we really don’t want to hear it.
- Read Matthew 4:4 and repeat it several times
“But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”
- Memorize Psalm 119:11:
“Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”
I invite you back tomorrow for DAY ELEVEN of “REDISCOVERING YOUR FIRST LOVE!”
