Inspiration—Regeneration Scripture Reading—John 3:1-8
- Nicodemus said that Jesus had come as a great teacher.
- Nicodemus knew Jesus had come from God because he saw His signs and said no man could do such miracles unless God was with him.
- Jesus told Nicodemus that he could not understand the knowledge of the Kingdom of God unless and until he was born again.
- In verse 6, Jesus explained to Nicodemus what He meant by being born again:
-
- To be born of the flesh is to be born naturally—as a child of your parents.
- To be born of the Spirit is to be born Supernaturally—as a child of God.
- The Spirit determines wo will be “born again” by the Spirit.
-
- NOTE: It is the work of the Holy Spirit to DRAW a lost person to see their need for a Savior; to see Jesus Christ as the Savior they need and to convince them to receive Jesus Christ as their Savior.
- The following are terms that Jesus used and what they meant:
-
- Water—Natural birth—
- Wind—An example of how the Holy Spirit works—as He wills or desires—
- Flesh—Natural man—
- Spirit—The third Person of the Trinity—
Application—Repent
- Have you ever said to yourself of to anyone else: “Well, I know Jesus was a good man—maybe even the best man that ever lived; He was a good teacher and a prophet, but I just don’t see how He could be God in the flesh!”
-
- Repent of that statement and be willing to believe He is who He says He is and that He did what He said He did for the reason He said He did it!
Application—Return
- Write a letter to a friend explaining how and when you were truly “born again”!
- Show your thanks unto God for allowing the Holy Spirit to call you to be born again!
- Continue to cleanse your life of all the evidences of your worship of other gods!
