Inspiration—Blessings Scripture Reading—2 Thessalonians 2:13-15
- There are five phrases in verse 13 that describe the blessing of being saved:
-
- Chosen from the beginning—(see Ephesians 1:4)
- To salvation—(see 1 Thessalonians 5:9)
- Through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth (see 1 Peter 1:2)
- To the obtaining of the glory
- Of the Lord Jesus Christ.
- In verse 14, Paul said people are called to salvation by the gospel, but through the preaching of the Word!
3. What was Paul’s instruction to those believers in verse 15?
-
- Stand firm—don’t waiver in your faith in Jesus Christ
- Hold to the traditions which you have been taught, whether verbally or through the Word of God.
Application—Repent
Read 1 Thessalonians 2:11-12 and think of the following questions—even write down your answers and look over them:
- Are you worthy of your calling?
- Do you fulfill every desire for goodness?
- Are you willing for Christ to be glorified in you?
Application—Return
- Ask God to show you those areas of unworthiness in your life.
- Confess those areas as He reveals them to you and thank Him for cleansing you from the eternal effects of those sins of disobedience.
- Give thanks to God for His work in you!
Thank you, Lord, for saving my soul.
Thank you, Lord, for making me whole.
Thank you, Lord for giving to me,
Thy great salvation, so rich and free!
