A Prophetic Scenario of the End Times

A Prophetic Scenario of the End Times Daniel 12:1-13

Date:May 6, 2026
Author: Wayne J. Edwards

Introduction:

Daniel’s prophecy contains three mysterious timelines, consisting of 1,260, 1,290, and 1,335 days. The standard futurist interpretation of the numbers of these days relates to the time between the betrayal of the Jews by the Antichrist, midway of the Tribulation, and the return of Jesus Christ to redeem a remnant of the Jews.

However, in addition to the standard interpretation, one prophecy watcher has also found a “second” application of the numbers to the Dome of the Rock, which was built on the very ground where the Jewish Temple stood. This, of course, stopped the daily sacrifice of the Jews and set up an abomination unto the Lord. Thus, converting the “days” to “years,” God told Daniel that it would be 1,290 years between the taking away of the daily sacrifice and the setting up of an abomination.

Building on this, if we count 1,260 years from the midpoint of the Dome of the Rock’s construction, we arrive at 1948, the very year the Jews declared the State of Israel to be a sovereign nation. Counting 1,335 years from the Dome of the Rock’s completion, we arrive at 2026-27: 691–92 AD + 1,335 = 2026–27.

In fact, the dedicatory inscription found inside the Dome of the Rock dates its completion to the Islamic year 72 AH. Since the Islamic year 72 AH began in June 691 AD, the1,335-year period could end as early as June 2026, depending on the exact completion date.

While no one knows the exact day of Jesus’ return (Matt. 24:36), a convergence of biblical signs and timelines suggests it is near. To escape the judgment reserved for a God-rejecting world, one must know Jesus as Lord and Savior. Have you received Him?

A Prophetic Scenario of the End Times
Daniel 12:1-13

Wayne J. Edwards, Pastor

The Book of Daniel is the “spine” of biblical prophecy because it provides the linear timeline of the major prophetic events from 612 B.C. to the return of Jesus Christ to establish His Kingdom on this earth.

  • After receiving the prophecy, Daniel asked the Lord to reveal to him the eternal outcome of it all.
  • The Lord told Daniel to go his way, because the words of this prophecy were rolled up and sealed until the time of the end – i.e., biblical prophecy cannot be changed.
  • The last three chapters of the Book of Daniel reveal the timeline of human history, from 612 BC to the end of this age, the return of Jesus Christ as the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, and the establishment of His Kingdom on this earth.

God gave Daniel the most complete revelation of the future of any of the prophets, and it is divided into two periods of time:

  • In chapters 1-6, God allowed His people to suffer severe distress, removing them from their sacred land to punish them for their disobedience.
    • For 70 years, God gave them the grace to withstand the mistreatment of their ungodly rulers until the day of their deliverance.
  • In chapters 7-12, God will allow the Israelites to suffer an even greater distress; during the years of tribulation, they will be persecuted by an evil ruler who will be empowered by Satan.
    • However, they will resist him until Jesus comes again, and a remnant of them will be saved.
  • God’s plan of redemption has been, is being, and will continue to be carried out through the Jewish people, for as Jesus said in John 4:22, our salvation is from the Jews.
  • In Isaiah 46:9-10, God said through His prophet: “Remember the former things long past, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things which have not been done, saying, my purpose will be established, and I will accomplish all My good pleasure!”
  • Daniel was called to be the voice of God to God’s people, reminding them of God’s love, and assuring them that God was in control of their future. For even though He had allowed them to go through times of tribulation, it was not for their destruction but for their deliverance.

Daniel’s prophecy contains three mysterious timelines, consisting of 1,260, 1,290, and 1,335 days.

  • The standard interpretation of “days” is that they represent literal 24-hour days, to be counted from when the Antichrist takes away the daily sacrifice at the new Temple.
    • Midway through the Tribulation, the Antichrist will enter the new temple, desecrate it, declare himself to be God, demand to be worshipped as God, and destroy all who will not worship him by taking the mark of the beast.
  • The 1260 days represent the final days of the Great Tribulation, which also corresponds with Daniel’s reference to “time, times, and a half-time.
    • 1290 days backs the time frame up to when the Antichrist desecrates the temple and stops the Jewish sacrificial system.
    • 1335 days extends the time frame of the tribulation to the start of the Millennium.
    • In 2 Peter 3:8, the Apostle wrote: “Beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”
